Did you know that a hearing test only takes about 10-15 minutes?
Hearing tests are nothing to feel stress over. The process is short, painless, and dare I say, enjoyable. Many of our clients are hesitant at first to visit us, but once they see how beneficial and easy gaining knowledge about their hearing is, they are glad they came.
To help alleviate your hearing test worries, here is an over-view of what you can expect when you book an appointment with Hearing Care Clinic.
Booking the Appointment:
Call or stop by one of our offices to book an appointment for a complementary hearing screening. The receptionist will take your name and number and book an appointment at your convenience.
The Day Before Your Appointment:
We will call you 1 to 2 days in advance of your appointment to remind you of the time and date, and to let you know what to bring. Here’s what we suggest you bring on the day of your hearing test:
1) Health Card
2) A close friend or relative (if you would like a product demonstration you may enjoy hearing a familiar voice)
3) Benefit Card (if you have one)
While we suggest you bring these items, don’t worry if you do not have them with you on the day of your appointment.
Arriving at the Clinic:
Upon your arrival, one of our friendly receptionists will greet you in the front lobby and invite you to take a seat. Once you have had a chance to settle in, the receptionist will join you to conduct a brief questionnaire. No need to fret, there are no Jeopardy questions here; merely a few questions regarding your contact information and a series of Yes/No questions about your hearing.
Remember: You cannot fail. Every answer is correct.
Looking in Your Ear:
Shortly after completing the questionnaire the Hearing Instrument Specialist will take a picture of the inside of your ear using a Video Otoscope. This step allows our Specialist to check the health of your ear canal and eardrum and make sure it is not blocked off by wax build-up. They will then go over the image with you and explain what they see.
The Hearing Test:
Next, you will take a seat in the sound booth. This step is three fold. First a beep test will be performed, followed by a series of words we that will ask you to repeat, and finally we will determine the volume you are most comfortable with. Our Specialist will then go over the results with you and answer any questions you have.
Hearing Aid Demonstration:
If it is determined that you would benefit from hearing aids and would like a product demonstration, our Specialist will use your prescription to equip a set of hearing aids for you to try out right then and there. At this point it is beneficial to have someone with you whose voice you hear on a regular basis. If you have not brought someone along, it is not a problem. Our Specialist and receptionist will be more than happy to have a chat with you while you try out the hearing aids. You can even step outside. You might be surprised by what you hear!
Finishing the Appointment:
Finally our Specialist will go over the options best suited to your lifestyle, budget and needs. Now that you have the facts you need to make an informed decision, we can help you overcome your daily hearing difficulties by finding the right solution for you.
